What a Beautiful World
By Peter Hagger
Many of the photographs in this exhibition have been taken since the beginning of the pandemic, when going for a daily walk enabled Peter and his wife Christine to get out of the house and enjoy the natural world. The exhibition showcases some of the beautiful local scenes and architecture Peter has photographed, and also includes some of his stunning portraits of animals, both in colour and monochrome.
You may already have seen some examples of Peter’s photography, as he is a regular contributor to the Hunts Post. Peter says “my photography is firstly for
my own enjoyment, and has kept me sane during the pandemic. If I have brought a bit of joy to others with my pictures too, then that is a real bonus.”
About the artist
Peter’s interest in photography started when he was nine and his Dad bought him a box brownie camera. Over the years he has always had a camera, but until about 12 years ago, most of his pictures were of holidays and days out. Then, with the age of digital he started using a digital camera – a Canon 350D single lens reflex. His main Camera now is still a Canon SLR but a 90D, but he also has a mirrorless Canon M6 Mark II and a pocket Sony.
He started taking his photography more seriously when he joined the St Neots U3A Photography Group, which he went on to lead jointly for eight years. He also did a few courses with Canon and completed a Photography Open University course. He joined the St Neots and District Camera Club, and continues to be an active member in both this and the U3A Photography Group.
He has a wide interest in different types of photography, but is never happier than when he is outdoors taking pictures, mainly walking or sightseeing. He loves wildlife photography and occasionally is able to go on specialist photo shoots.
