Learning at the museum
Discover the heritage of a busy Cambridgeshire market town with individual or group visits around the exhibits, or in our activity room with handling sessions, talks and craft sessions.
School and youth groups
We offer loads of ways for school groups to engage with us, from expert-led activities and workshops, to zoom classroom sessions and themed educational loans boxes available to hire. For more information, visit our schools and Loans Boxes pages. We are also able to open the museum in the late afternoon and evenings to welcome youth groups.
Self-led
Please book your visit even if it will be self-led. We may be able to provide resources you can use from our schools learning pack and we can make sure you do not clash with another group. We can also arrange a short welcome to the museum when you arrive.
Museum-led
Whatever topic you are studying we may be able to provide resources and activities to help you achieve the aims of your visit. Visits cost £2 per child for a taught session.
Videos
Visit our video page for a number of learning resources for all ages, including sessions aimed at pre-school and adult learners. We also offer a range of videos aimed at KS2 classes, available to access via our Education Officer.
Youth groups
Scouts, Guides, Beavers and more are all welcome at the museum. We can provide a trail around the museum or an activity, with squash and biscuits afterwards if required. Charges are £30 per visit, or £3 per child.
Handling boxes
We have loan boxes available covering a number of subjects including toys and games, Roman life, Tudor times, Victorian everyday life, Victorian schools and games and World War II. Boxes are available for a period of two weeks at a cost of £15. Loans may be extended, for an additional fee, if no other group is waiting to borrow the box.
Adult groups
Looking for an interesting location for a visit, we can provide an introductory talk about the history of St Neots, a tour of our galleries and tea and cakes to finish. We charge £50 per group visit (or £5 per person if you are a small group) and £3 per person for tea and cakes.
A walk around St Neots
Discover the history of the town on a leisurely stroll of about 90 minutes around the centre of St Neots. Charges are £50 per group, tea and cakes can be provided at the museum afterwards at £3 per person.
Talks to groups
The Curator is available to give talks to local groups for a fee of £50. Topics include the history of St Neots and myths and magic in Huntingdonshire. Other topics may be available on request, please contact the curator.
Reminiscence loan resources
We have two reminiscence resources – kitchen cabinet and dressing table which contain a good selection of handling items to stimulate conversation. A hire fee of £15 per week, and the museum will deliver and collect.

Museum staff and volunteers can provide reminiscence sessions at care homes, to ensure a quality experience we suggest a maximum of one volunteer to two residents, £50 per session.
